How to Care for your Watch
General Information
To keep your custom Seiko mod or pre-owned timepiece from ModsByShots looking and performing its best, regular care is key. Gently wipe your watch with a microfiber cloth to remove dust and fingerprints, a microfiber watch cloth can be found on the accessories store page. It's also important to avoid hard impacts, strong magnets, or exposing your watch to extreme temperatures, as these can affect accuracy and damage internal components.
When winding your automatic watch, make sure you do not overwind your watch to prevent damage to the movement. On top of this, if the crown can be screwed into the case make sure the crown is always screwed in. This is because the crown being screwed in maintains a waterproof aspect of the watch.
Automatic watches, like those using NH35 movements, benefit from regular wear to stay wound and running smoothly. If unworn for a few days, a gentle shake or manual winding will get things going again. Store your watch in a soft pouch or box when not in use to prevent scratches and consider a full service every 3–5 years to keep it in top condition.
Specifically Chronographs
For chronograph watches, please make sure when using the chronograph stopwatch functionality that the chronograph hand is paused before reset. If the hand is reset whilst running, there is a slim chance that the chronograph hand may snap off.
